ATC Microsoft Office Specialist Course

Microsoft Office Specialist (Office Specialist) certification, the premier Microsoft desktop certification, is a globally recognized standard for demonstrating desktop skills. The Office Specialist program is helping meet the demand for qualified and knowledgeable people in the modern workplace.

Earning Office Specialist certification acknowledges you have the expertise to work with Microsoft Office programs. Office Specialist-certified individuals report increased competence and productivity with Microsoft Office programs as well as increased credibility with their employers, co-workers, and clients. Office Specialist certification sets you apart in today’s competitive job market, bringing employment opportunities, greater earning potential and career advancement, in addition to increased job satisfaction.

The Assistive Technology Center offers an online course for the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.  The ATC is the only Microsoft Certified private facility currently offering MOS training with adaptive technology. 

This course prepares individuals using Jaws, Window Eyes, HAL, ZoomText, Supernova, Lunar, or other assistive software for the Microsoft Office Specialist Exam.

This course begins with an overview on configuring your operating system and Office Suite for maximum screen reader friendliness, and introduces you to various screen reader concepts and equivalencies.

Next, the student will follow our curriculum for an overview of all Office applications, and learn the similarities and interdependence of the desktop suite.

Finally, the student will choose which Office application that he or she wishes to achieve certification for.

Candidates for Specialist certification must pass an examination in one of the following:

  • Microsoft Word 2003
  • Microsoft Excel 2003
  • Microsoft Access 2003
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2003
  • Microsoft Outlook 2003

Expert Certification (coming soon)

Candidates for Expert Certification must pass examinations in two of the above applications.

Word Specialist

Word specialist skill sets will include formatting content, organizing content, formatting documents, collaboration, and customizing Word.

Candidates will be expected to create lists, custom styles, control pagination, insert and modify objects from other sources, sort content, perform calculations within tables, create forms, use and create themes, customize document properties, create and run macros, and create web pages with Word.

Excel Specialist

Excel specialist skill sets include:

Enter and edit cell content
Navigate to specific cell content
Locate, select and insert supporting information
Insert, position, and size graphics
Filter lists using AutoFilter
Sort lists
Insert and modify formulas
Use statistical, date and time, financial, and logical functions
Create, modify, and position diagrams and charts based on worksheet data
Create new workbooks from templates
Insert, delete and move cells
Create and modify hyperlinks
Organize worksheets
Preview data in other views
Customize Window layout
Setup pages for printing
Print data
Organize workbooks using file folders
