At Assistive Technology Center, we understand that everyone has unique needs, challenges, and goals, therefore we have no "one size fits all" approach to instruction.  The skills that will be required of an aspiring research engineer will be much different than for an executive assistant, or a web developer, or a senior whose main objective might be to learn to send e-mail to the grand kids back East.

All The Adaptive Technology:

Our instructors offer training in all of the major adaptive hardware and software available today.  Unlike those facilities that force students into learning a particular program (because that is all they know), ATC gives the student the opportunity to decide what software or combination thereof works best for them.  At ATC, you can learn to use:

  • Any of the major screen reading applications--Jaws, Window Eyes, HAL, and Supernova
  • Any of the major magnification applications--ZoomText, MAGic, Lunar, and Lunar Plus
  • Any of the major Optical Character Recognition applications--Open Book, Kurzweil 1000 and 3000, and OmniPage
  • Several accessible PDA's, such as Braille Sense, Maestro, MobileSpeak Pocket, and PacMate
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking voice recognition
  • Trekker Global Positioning System
  • JBliss PnC products
  • and more.

All The Mainstream Technology:

We understand that the most important thing about computer instruction is not learning adaptive technology, but rather how to use mainstream applications.  ATC instructors are Microsoft Certified in all versions of Windows, and are also Microsoft Office Certified instructors.

At ATC, we can train you in the use of:

  • Internet Explorer and Outlook Express
  • Microsoft Word
  • Outlook
  • Excel
  • Access
  • PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Office Project
  • Visio
  • Quicken and QuickBooks
  • Mozilla Firefox Browser
